Broadview at Purchase College and resident Steven Shelov are the focus of a new Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) documentary on the benefits of intergenerational learning and the concept of university retirement communities. As a retired medical school dean, Shelov started a mentoring program with Purchase College pre-med students and physicians who live at Broadview. The documentary provides a real-life glimpse into how residents and students are benefiting from the connection and collaboration of this unique relationship.

LCS Development, An LCS Company, served as the developer for Broadview, a university retirement community on the campus of Purchase College, a State University of New York college in Purchase, New York. Life Care Services, An LCS Company, provides management services and support for the community’s innovative mission. Broadview is redefining intergenerational connections and lifelong learning by creating a living environment that is both physically and socially intertwined with Purchase College. Alongside the opportunity for residents to attend lectures and exhibitions for free, Broadview has classrooms, a makerspace, and a variety of other venues for students, faculty, and residents to join in the spirit of learning. Plus, Broadview residents can get out and about by attending collegiate sporting events, watching world-class performances, or pursuing intergenerational connections.
