Crisis Management Support and Resources

Each community managed by Life Care Services has plans in place for all types of natural disasters: tornado, hurricane, and flood, and conducts monthly training on a variety of safety topics. For communities in areas where hurricanes are prevalent, community leadership begins reevaluating their hurricane preparedness in May, fine-tuning and adjusting their plans as necessary.

In October 2016, Hurricane Matthew, a Category 4 storm, hit Savannah, Georgia and Greenville, North Carolina. Because two communities in the path of the storm, Cypress Glen and The Marshes at Skidaway Island are managed by Life Care Services, the executive directors were able to access invaluable support from the company and from its network of communities during the hurricane.

Managing risk is always a team effort.

The LCS risk management department is focused on creating and maintaining safe working and living environments for employees and residents. Communities managed by Life Care Services routinely experience better than average safety results, historically exceeding industry standards for workplace safety.  

Our property and casualty insurance program, the LCS Advantage® Insurance Program, protects the assets and operations of senior living communities through AM Best rated insurance carriers that understand the unique risks associated with senior housing offering long-term stability, enhanced coverage and competitive pricing. Plus, it offers flexibility to communities with specific insurance needs. The LCS Advantage Insurance Program provides insurance coverages for medical professional and general liability, excess liability, workers’ compensation, commercial auto, property (including boiler) and crime.

We help make senior living communities safe.

It’s important for all communities to operate safely. Physical operations are conducted in a manner that allows people to work and live without harm, resulting in higher employee and resident satisfaction.

We also help communities secure the right equipment and training, and put safety protocols in place for success. Safety has a lot of curb appeal, and we support our operations and marketing teams to deliver.

We provide claims management.

On the rare occasion that safety measures fail, we are here to help. LCS Advantage participants receive safety and claims management services at no charge. Through the LCS Advantage Insurance Program, community participants partner with dedicated claims adjusters. We work with the adjusters and attorneys to help communities respond to and resolve claims. 

We assist with risk transfer.

The LCS Advantage Insurance Program provides in-depth coverages that are obtained and maintained as a result of our enhanced focus on safety. By being a part of the LCS Advantage insurance program, participants collectively obtain a level of commitment, service and quality in insurance coverages that would be challenging to find as a stand-alone community.
