LCS, the nation’s third largest senior living provider, announced today that Chris Bird, who currently serves as the company’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, has been promoted to the position of president in addition to his current role with the company. Effective Oct. 1, Bird will be responsible for leading the company’s operating activities and working with senior management to drive performance excellence and earnings across all business lines.

“This is a well-deserved promotion for one of the industry’s most respected leaders,” said Joel Nelson, LCS’ CEO. “Chris has dedicated his career to senior living and proven his ability to lead the LCS Family of Companies forward. I am excited to use his expertise and experience to sharpen the strategic vision at LCS.”

Bird has over 25 years of experience in operations and marketing, new business development, fostering capital partner relationships, and leadership of both Life Plan and Rental Communities across the country. He joined LCS in 2018 to lead the company’s rental division. In 2020, he was promoted to EVP/chief operating officer to oversee Life Care Services, CPS, asset management and onboarding operations. His experience led the rental company to record profitability, played a critical role in the company’s new business development, helped with on-going succession planning, and drove improvements in employee and resident engagement scores each year.

Bird’s promotion has also created new leadership opportunity at LCS. The company is actively recruiting to fill a new EVP Operations/Senior Living Management position to oversee each of its Senior Living Management portfolios and Health Services.

“I am honored for the opportunity to take on this expanded leadership role,” said Bird. “LCS is in a tremendous position as we lead our workforce in serving seniors. The mentorship and support I have received from Joel and the LCS executive leadership team have prepared me well for my new role. I am thankful for their support and vote of confidence.”

Bird is a current member of the LCS Board of Directors and has served as a member of the Audit committee. He serves on the Argentum Advisory Council and the Argentum Chief Operating Officer Roundtable. He holds a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Memphis, Tennessee.
